Project Updates: 11 June 2025

Killough Solar provides comprehensive response to Tipperary Co. Council Request for Further Information

On Thursday 5th June the promoters of Killough Solar submitted a comprehensive response to a Request for Further Information (RFI) about the proposed project. This submission included:

  • updated proposals for access to the site by construction and operational traffic,
  • an updated Site Plan Drawing showing underground cabling and updates to archaeological buffers,
  • a Natura Impact Statement (NIS) – which is a key component of an Appropriate Assessment (AA)
  • an updated Archaeological Assessment (AIA) Report, and
  • other related updates and information including updated traffic assessment

This submission follows an RFI request dated 25 February 2025 in respect of a planning application submitted on 03/01/2025 (Pl. Ref No: 2560003) for the development of a solar farm and associated facilities at Killough Farm within the townlands of Killough, Clohoge, Graigue, County Tipperary. The project will also include biodiversity enhancement and bat/bird and archaeological buffers within the site.

Copies of the Natura Impact Statement and Archaeological Assessment Report may be viewed on the Tipperary County Council website or inspected at the offices of the planning authority during its public opening hours. Copies may also be purchased from the planning authority’s office at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy.

Road access and temporary works:

The original planning submission for Killough Solar proposed the use of two existing site entrances for construction access to the solar farm. Following consultation with Tipperary County Council the southern entrance is now being proposed as the primary point of access for both construction and operational traffic to the solar farm.
