About Killough Solar

Killough Solar is a best-in-class solar development in Killough, near Thurles, Co. Tipperary, led by Coolmore in cooperation with Temporis Investment Management, specialists in renewable energy and clean technology sectors, and supported by leading industry experts.

The solar farm will consist of a low-density installation of PV panels covering just 100 hectares, c. 40%, of a 247 hectare land holding.

Located on a discrete site ideally suited for solar development, there will be extensive measures in place to protect the local environment and heritage.

Killough Solar will supply renewable energy to the electricity grid via a nearby, existing 110kV overhead line, producing energy equivalent to the annual needs of 25,000 households or a population size of c. 68,500 people*.

Our new solar farm will help to meet national renewable energy targets. Based on the number of solar panels contained within the solar farm, it has the capacity to generate c. 100MW* of energy, thus saving c.42,000 tonnes of C02 every year.

Fehily Timoney and Company (FT) have been commissioned to prepare a planning application for Killough Solar. FT is a consultancy based in Cork, Dublin and Carlow. FT is an established leading consultancy in solar farm and renewable development in Ireland, with in house scientists, planners and engineers. They also contract a range of specialist subcontractors for additional expertise.
